Hensingham U16s progress in National Cup

Hensingham U16s progress into the next round of the National Cup after a hard fought victory against Upton ARLFC (Wakefield).

With two tries apiece it was the Wakefield side who held the slight advantage 10-12 at half time, neither side were taking any backward steps and Hensingham looked to have sealed the victory leading 16-12 with seconds left, when, on the last play of game Upton went the full length to score, crucially the Hensingham chase never gave up and the Upton centre was forced to touch down in the corner, the kick fell short and at 16 all the sides were set for extra time. Both sides traded sets and again Hensingham looked to have sealed it with Harvey Hill rounding off his hat trick giving his side a 22-16 lead, Upton again though were not ones to sit back and with an almost identical play they broke down Hensingham's left edge and this time gave their kicker a better shot at converting, he duly did and the sides were again level at the end of Extra Time. Golden point saw both sides trade sets and great defence thwarted an Upton drop goal attempt, Hensingham worked their way up the pitch and on the last tackle when it looked all set for a chip to the corner the Hensingham Number 6 under immense pressure from the Upton side slotted over a difficult one pointer to take Hensingham into the next round.
