Hensingham are delighted to announce they are to play the 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster Regiment on Wednesday evening (20th May 6:30KO).
The Army side are preparing for their defence of Tom Sephton Memorial Trophy (a trophy they have retained for the last 3 year) against the Mercian Regiment, the memorial trophy is one of 3 games played on Armed Forces Day (27th June) at Crossfields RLFC in Warrington.
Hensingham have always had a close affiliation with the armed forces and over the years have had many players who were current or ex servicemen (Army, Navy and Airforce), Hensingham currently have 4 serving armed forces personnel 3 of which will be playing for Duke of Lancaster Regiment on Wednesday, we are sure this will add to the "friendly" rivalry between the players.
The club will be donating all monies raised on Wednesday Evening (Players match fees, match collection, raffle etc) to the Danny Jones Memorial Fund, a fund which the whole rugby family holds close to its heart.
Please try and get up to support the game as well as your local Regiment and also, if you are able to, any donations on the evening would be greatly appreciated and, we hope, will go a very small way to support the family of Danny Jones in this tragic Time.
