Hepworth United FC is a Charter Standard Community Club, and very proud of this, but it does not just limit the club's activities to football. Our ethos and community spirit sees us involved in much more, and we are now excited to announce that we will be joining forces to facilitate a brand new ladies netball squad. The "Hepworth Hurricanes" as they will be known, will use the Club as a base for meetings, socials and other events and they will wear the clubs new badge and colours upon their kits and training wear.
The concept of having a ladies netball team has been on the cards for a while, with the club being approached some twelve months ago by a group of young women who were eager to start up a club and offer good quality coaching and training to others throughout the Holme Valley and surrounding area. Having been approached to work in association with The Hurricanes, Hepworth United FC are delighted to be able to expand the possibilities, activities and opportunities for female sports within the area.
The initial training sessions will be open to all abilities of ladies aged 16 years and above who would like to come along and give it a go, with the first session commencing on Monday 20th April 2020. Training sessions will be fun and structured and most importantly suitable for both old and new players. The Hurricanes have an England Netball Level 2 qualified coach, with Abigail Tunnacliffe in place, and Abigail will have a good support team of recognised players and fitness coaches behind her. The plan is to steadily build a squad with a view to entering some teams in to a league come September. Looking further ahead, the Hurricanes will be looking to further expand and commence junior training and possible squads.
