This seasons County Cup saw Hepworth entertain Millmoor who hepworth comfortably beat lin last seasons competition away at millmoor 0-2. Step forward to 2019 and a new looking Millmoor team came and gained revenge in a 0-2 away win. hepworth were hit hard by injuries and illness and work committments that saw them having to play with only one reconised defender who was not match fit due to injury and relied on striker Hannah Nicholl having to be a make shift left back and 16 year old Kate Govan a makeshift right back. That said the early pressure was all from Hepworth and inside the first 5 minutes they should have been in front as Renata Feherova worked the ball well down the left before a great cross to Sophie Walsh whos shot went just over the bar. Ten minutes later and Laura brownsaw her 20 yard effort strike the bar when it seemed certain that Hepworth would take the lead. Hepworth then struck a post on 37 minutes as Feherova shot from 25 yards out, and it looked like it would be one of those days. On the stroke of half time harper in goal made a triple save as Millmoor caught Hepworth on the break , some great goalkeeping saw both teams go in all square at the break.
With many injuries already Hepworth werte forced to make another change at the start of the second half as Kim Antonio was forced off after surviving several heavy challenges and she was replaced by Merita Prebrezova. Hepworth were caught napping almost from the kick off as millmoor outpaced the defence to open the scoring. The game had now become pretty open with both teams going for goal yet Hepworth just seemed to lack the final bit of quality in front of goal or more a case of the bit of luck as they sruck the woodwork a further three times. hepworth still had the slightly upper hand but Millmoor were dangerous on the break, and so it proved on 70 minutes as again they broke quickly on the counter attack and scored a second. Hepworth did not sit back and kept puishing forward if only for a consolation goal, forcing several corners and having several half chances they still could not force the ball over the line. Right at the death Merita Prebrezova was unlucky as the Millmoor keeper made a double save to thwart Prebrezova and Hepworth. All in all Hepworth gave a good performance with a very changed side and on any other day would have been out of sight by the half time whistle. Good luck to Millmoor in the next round and for Hepworth its all efforts focussed on those elusive first league points.
Rebecca harper was voted the players player of the match after her outstanding performance between the sticks.
