Eggstraordinary Easter win

Hepworth were looking to avenge an away loss to Ossett earlier this season but this Easter Sunday it looked like a difficult task as again the team were still struggling to field eleven fully fit players due to injuries. With several carrying injuries it would need super human effort from all and thats Eggsactly what they gave. The home side took the lead in the first minute when intelligent play swa the ball moved out to the wing and captain McCluskey sent over a great cross for Amy Thompson to tap home. the opening 20 minutes was all out Hepworth attack as on 5 mins Jo Forrest saw her effort well saved closely followed by a Hannah Nicholl effort and a further shots from Thompson and McCluskey went just wide. Fifteen minutes on the clock and Hepworth were controlling the game McCluskey saw another great effort go just wide, could all these missed chances cost Hepworth ? Ossett were guilty of poor quality when in front of goal, this and a well organised defence flitting between a back four and a back three as Rebecca Purchon pushed forward with ease. On the few occassions Ossett broke free their finishing was poor or Rebecca Harper was in her usual great form. They did equalise on 28 minutes from a quick break but this shock goal against the run of play only spurred the home side on. Hannah Nicholl fired a wind assisted effort from 45 yards out forcing a corner then on 35 minutes Purchon went on a mazey Messi like run and ripped open the Ossett defence before a last ditch tackle earned her team a corner. From the resulting corner Jo Forrest turned and shot just wide. Hepworth however kept going with the wind and slope in their favour and on 44 minutes following several attacks Amy Thompson turned and lobbed the keeper from 22 yards out placing the ball in the top corner to make it 2-1. Hepworth straight from the restart pushed forward and forced a corner. McCluskey sent the ball over and from 25 yes 25 Millimeters out Lindsey Tague forced the ball over the line to give her team a 3-1 lead.
Turning around Hepworth resorted to a flat back four and expected to be under the cosh but it was they who took the game by the scruff of the neck and on 50 minutes Iggleden fired just over the bar. This effort was closely followed by further efforts from Thompson, McCluskey and Forrest. Ossett who pumped the ball forward at every opportunity didnt cause too many problems as the home side defence was well marshalled by Lucy Page and Pashley,Purchon and Tague who all grafted hard. They worked the offside trap exteamely well which frustrated Ossett forcing them to shoot from distance or rush things making mistakes. Rebecca Harper in goal did make several great challenges and swept behind the back four like a sweeper when the visitors did cause a threat. From a rare corner Ossett scrambled the ball home to make it 3-2 on 80 minutes but within two minutes Hepworth had again increased their lead. Amy Thompson who had chased everything all game pressured the defender and robbed her of the ball before driving a strong left footed shot past against the wind and past the keeper from 20 yards to make it 4-2. A great strike for the young striker to claim her first Hat Trick for her team. Ossett did claim a further goal deep into stoppage time following a rash Lucy Page challenge her only mistake of the game but it was too little too late and Hepworth claimed all 3 points with an outstanding performance from their weakened squad. An Eggstra special performance gave them an eggstra Easter bonus of three points which were well deserved. Following her first Hat Trick for her club the Keystone Europe Ltd player of the match award was awarded to Amy Thompson after a great all round performance that said each and every player as should be proud of their efforts today.
