Lawrie Wright:

I did not witness it but it must deserve a comment. I refer to Nick Bancroft's 10-20 off 12.2 overs in 1981 against Bayford Nondescripts. Even if half were half volleys or full tosses that still leave half being good balls. Perhaps just as surprising is that nine of those wickets were out caught and eight different fielders were involved. Did all the dropped catches occur at the other end?

Steve Benford:

Pete Amos taking 7 for not many the night after the summer ball in what would have been around 2006 ish. Worst hangover and nobody had energy to celebrate any wickets.

Paul Williams:

I played in the game when Nick Bancroft took all 10 (although I was a 15 year old playing for the opposition, Bayford, at the time). I was also playing when Cliff Cavener took a relatively modest 9 fer.

Innes Ridley:

Phil Osgood.

Daniel Osgood (in response to Innes Ridley):

55 dot balls in a row… he reminds me every Saturday afternoon during the summer.

Richard Eaton (in response to Daniel Osgood):

I had the misfortune of playing in that game.

Rob Carter:

Richard Platt getting a hat trick off the last 3 balls of a game to beat Knebworth by 1 run. Benji Cowell, do you remember and were you one of the 3?

Benji Cowell (in response to Rob Carter):

I don’t remember losses Rob, you know that.

Michael Bailey:

Adam Carlson for coming off the long run against 11 or 12 year olds Hugh and Max inside the summer party tent.

Max Lawrance:

Hugh Cavener - 6th May, 2015. 6/40. It was absolute road at Sandridge CC. I have never seen a bowler rag it as much as Hugh. Easy vote.

Hugh Cavener:

Definitely Max Lawrance for his unbelievable figures of 7/27 vs Roving Reporters on the 8th July, 2018. He gave the ball an almighty tweak that day against a very strong batting lineup.

Stuart Cradock:

I know it's strictly not cricket, but in responding to this question I have to nominate 2 performances by myself as I don't recall seeing anything better. My responses are as follows;

1) My best limited over performance was v Hertford Brewery at Balls Park in the George Fuller Cup (mid to late 1970s). In the 20 over competition where bowlers have a 5 over limit with a restricted run up my analysis read O 5 M 5 R 0 W 4. Under current rules this would not have happened as a few leg-byes would have been included in the runs column.

2) My best performance in a regular match was at Abbots Langley (mid 1970s). We had batted first and as we walked on to the field our skipper, Harry Galbraith, jokingly suggested that, as I was the only regular bowler in the side that day, I would have to take all the wickets and that he would bowl his occasional off spin from the other end to give me that chance. Harry then dismissed one of the openers and I proceeded to take the 8 remaining wickets (they only had 10 men) to give us a comfortable win and achieve my personal best wicket haul.

Bill Purver:

Any one of Cradock’s bursts of violence!
