The Fort Come to the Highland Capital
Highland welcome good friends Fort William to Fraser Park on Saturday. The firsts have been on good form so far but skipper Nixon is hoping for a better show with the bat, than on Sunday against Buckie.
He is also hopeful of welcoming back bowler Richard Thomson, after he has been on lambing duty. It's hoped bringing new life into the world hasn't changed Thomson up and that he comes back full of no nonsense Yorkshire grit!
Groundsman Smith (as is his wont) has been involved in heated whatsapp debates with opening partner Wolton over ground care! Some observers believe they're both talking pish but Highland will hope their passionate chemistry can click on Saturday with the bat.
Debates over pitch management to one side, the dry weather has brought some genuine firmness to the ground and it is hoped the players will see the benefit of this in the playing surface.
Another thing to watch out for on sat is the latest musings of King Regan Francis! Regan has never been slow to point out the racial diversity available at Highland Cricket Club. However, he has a developing theory that "white men can't catch" (but brown and black men can)! He has also introduced a scoring system and, suffice to say, the "honkies" are behind following a few drops by crabbers' on sat!! We await the next instalment!
