Plymouth Parkway 2 Highworth Town 0

A midweek trip to Plymouth is never ideal but especially so when you are able to do so with the only bare number of players available. This twice postponed fixture was eventually played last night in front of a magnificent attendance of 628 spectators all but a very few were there to see their team move closer to winning the league and promotion to the Southern League Premier division at the first attempt.
Highworth started brightly and home keeper Moore prevented Ash Edenborough opening the scoring in the first minute with a save with his feet.
Tom Bath opened the scoring on 12 mins with a curling effort into the bottom left hand corner of Connor Johns net from 20 yards.
Johns kept out a Williams effort 8 mins later as the home side dominated but it was Highworth who could have provided the next goal when Edenborough was again denied by a another fine save from Moore. Johns denied Palfrey as HT approached as the teams battled on a wet pitch with the mizzly rain coming down.
Johns denied Andrew on the re-start with a smart save as the game continued with the home side dominating possession. The second goal was a well worked affair from the right hand side as Mikey Williams found a good position and a fine finish on 65 minutes.
A looping header from Mitchell bounced of the top of Highworth's crossbar as the visiting defence manfully dealt with them lively home attack as FT was reached without addition to the score.
We wish home striker Tom Bath well after he was carried from the field with a leg injury shortly before the ned of the game.
A massive improvement on Saturday's performance from the Worthians who cannot be faulted for lack of effort or attitude on what was a difficult night.
