Kidlington 5 Highworth Town 1

A wholly disappointing performance in Oxfordshire could not have been more different to that at Biggleswade FC last week.
In a first competitive meeting for several years since their Hellenic League days it was the home side who started brightly as James Walker in the Highworth goal was forced into an early save. Dan Grieve then had a sight on goal for the visitors but Joseph Gordon saved comfortably. Kidlington took the lead when a long ball over the Highworth defence down the right allowed Connor Mattimore far too much room and he cut in a beat Walker with a shot high into the net from 10 yards.
Kidlington then dominated and went further ahead on 40 mins when a free kick from the right was nodded back across the penalty area and Connor Ferguson beat Walker with a looping header from 6 yards.
HT 0-2
A third goal immediately after half time settled the game as another long ball down the right allowed a low cross to be converted by Ryan Knight close in.
Highworth had little to show going forward and 2 further goals from Ferguson (66) and Mattimore (71) merely showed the home side's superiority. Gorman made a fine save from Will Davidson to keep his goal intact until Sol Pryce nodded in a consolation t the end.
All in all a poor day.
Next up yet another away trip, this time to North London as we visit Walthamstow next Saturday 3.00 pm ko.
Home games are on the way however.
