Highworth, who finished the league in 5th position, won through to the promotion play off final with a hard fought victory in Bristol last night overcoming the side who finished as runners up to champions Hartpury University.
On a chilly evening in front of 210 spectators Highworth thoroughly deserved their victory which came in added time at the end of the 2nd half when Josh Davis latched onto a Dan Comer pass and lobbed keeper Manning-Butcher from 8 yards.
The first half saw Highworth's Sol Pryce fire over and then saw the home keeper save with his legs and the home side having a couple of efforts go narrowly wide.
HT 0-0
Connor Johns in the Highworth goal kept it level with a fine save from a shot from distance which was destined for the top corner as the game remained goal less.
Manning-Butcher was well placed to save from Pryce at the near post from a Connor Britchford-Stanley cross as Highworth pressed forward.
The home side were reduced to 10 men on 75 mins when McLennon inexplicably kicked out at Britchford-Stanley way off the ball and took the very short walk to the dressing room.
It thenseemed the game was to be settled by penalty kicks until the added time heroics of Josh Davis.
We will now travel to Inkberrow in Worcestershire for the final to see who is promoted. The date tbc.
A huge thanks to the significant number of supporters who travelled last night, we hope to see even more at the final.
