On Sunday, 27th May we took three minis teams to the CD Phoenix Hi 5 tournament in East Grinstead, 2 x U11s and 1 x U10. We knew it would be a tough day as this tournament is attended by very good clubs from all over Sussex, and so it turned out to be.

The U10s started with a couple of big losses but as the day went on, they improved match after match with the scores getting closer, ending up with well deserved draw and a super win - many thanks Jacqueline for looking after the squad.

The U11Bs also had a difficult time as they were in a section with a number of well drilled, experienced U11 teams but they didn't give up - many thanks Mat for looking after the squad.

The U11As meant business. They won some fabulous games, ending up 2nd in their section having lost only one match to the eventual tournament winners. And so to the semi final, where the rotation didn't work out as well as we would have liked and our shots were just not going in; this was also the case in the play off for 3rd/4th resulting in them coming a very respectable 4th out of 14 teams, well done girls. Many thanks Helen for looking after the squad.

My thanks also to Anna who helped me with the umpiring (I couldn't have managed umpiring two matches in the same round!).

It was a lovely way to end this season; thank you girls for your efforts on the day, you did yourselves proud.

Note to self - lots more shooting practise next season!!
