It is with regret that the club announces that Hilary Steele MBE, our friend and a truly inspirational lady sadly but peacefully passed away last night, surrounded by her family.

The league hopes that all teams this weekend respect Hilary's memory in any way you feel fitting, this may be a minutes silence, wearing black armbands or any other way your team feels would do justice to a person who has done more than any other for rugby league.

I will pass on details of Hilary's funeral as I get them, but one of the last things Hilary said to me was "Tell people if they can't get to cream, please get to Rylands after and have a bloody good party ".

RIP Hilary.
