Last Saturday Hingham Reserves travelled to yet another unbeaten side in Hunstanton for a 3rd Round tie in the Primary Cup.
The pace of the fixture was set early with a high tempo as the Hornets got a sighter at goal and managing to test the opposition keeper inside the opening 36 seconds. Both sides proceeded to use their own styles of play but with some edge of caution.
The Hornets managed to break the deadlock on 12 minutes as the ball whipped in from the left met the head of Thurston who directed the ball into the bottom corner.
Hunstanton had a golden opportunity to equalise on on 19 minutes but for a key save from Haze who rushed off his line to spread himself big.
Ht: 1-0
The second half kick off continuing in much the same vein as the Hornets took control of possession but were unable to capitalise in front of goal.
On 52 minutes the Hornets had the ball in the net once again but by the most bizzare of circumstances when, after a drop ball following an incident, Thurston's back pass to the Hunstanton goalkeeper flew over his head and into the net for 0-2. Of course by the letter of the law the goal had to stand therefore, in an act of great sportmanship, the Hornets freely allowed Hunstanton to walk the ball into the net unopposed for 1-2.
Hingam did double their lead just 4 minutes later however when Thurston bagged his Hat-Trick when a ball played through by C. Short was controlled by the head by Thurston which allowed him to glide past the keeper and slide the ball into the net for 1-3.
FT: 1-3
Once again were able to go on their travels and come away with a victory from a previously unbeaten side and once again progressing to the next round of the Primary Cup. A tough tie against AFC Walpole in early December awaits in Round 4.
Man of the Match went to Shaun Clarke who had a tremendous game and has continually progressed with each outing this season.
Next week is a welcome return to League action as we face another difficult test away to an unbeaten Tugas United.
