On an excellent surface Hawks soon took control of the match and passed the ball around sweetly. Two, three touches and the ball was on its way again which was lovely to watch. Hawks opened the scoring on 10 minutes. George slotted a pass through the middle which Eliot gave chase and as the goalkeeper rushed out he could only parry the ball sideways and Liam was following up to score (1-0). 8 minutes later and Eliot was fouled in the penalty area and Ben stepped up to score (2-0). 3 minutes later and Hawks increased the lead. Some good work on the right by Billy Mulley and his cross was knocked on by Eliot and Billy Cook scored at the far post (3-0). Saffron Walden pulled a goal back within 2 minutes (3-1) but Hawks gained their 3 goal advantage almost immediately when Billy Cook scored with a header from a Billy Kennedy cross (4-1) and Ben then laid the ball square for George to score from long range (5-1). Saffron Walden pulled a goal back just before half time (5-2) but Hawks were well in control.
Hawks continued to pass the ball around in the 2nd half but were content with their 1st half performance. Not too many chances were created but the scoreline assisted with making a few changes to the line up here and there. Tyler got the only goal of the half assisted by Billy Harris when his cross from out wide was curling into the far corner and the goalkeeper could only help it in (6-2).
A good solid performance with some excellent football played compared to the previous week.
