Busy keeping the club running

Dear Members,

The committee of Holt Rugby Club hope you and your families are all well in these awful times.

During the crisis, members of the committee have been busy keeping the club running. Huge efforts have been made to ensure that we remain solvent, and will be able to continue as one of the great clubs in Norfolk after this dreadful time has passed. The efforts, thanks it must be said mainly by our treasurer, have been largely successful and the club remains financially viable for the foreseeable future. That said, every effort must be made to attract new money into the club, especially through sponsorship efforts such as the shirt number scheme which was started last season. Remember that you don't have to be a company or business to sponsor a shirt. Anyone can do it - so if you have a favourite player or position, why not get your name in lights next to the relevant shirt?

The only question really that matters at this time is of course is: When can we all get back to Bridge Road? There is no definite answer. All we can say is .... as soon as it is possible to do so.

Plans are under way, rigorously following RFU guidelines, to start pre-season training and hopefully touch rugby sessions around the middle of July. The coaching staff feel that we need to prepare for a re-start of rugby in Sept. They are acutely aware that this might NOT happen, in which case serious training may be deferred to a later date, however it is felt that the sooner the players can start to get together, the better it is for everybody.

Under current guidelines extremely draconian procedures will be in place for everyone attending the sessions. Regular temperature checks, regular sanitizing of equipment, social distancing etc will ALL be applied . Nearer the date ALL club members will be contacted and told exactly what criteria MUST be followed. As the situation is likely to remain fluid for some time yet, we don't know ourselves what measures we will have to put in place but whatever those criteria, as laid down by the RFU and Government are, Holt RFC will strictly adhere to them.

As far as the social side of the club is concerned, the clubhouse currently cannot be opened; again we currently have our hands tied by Government guidelines. The clubhouse has however been open, and will be open again in the future, for blood donor sessions.
This again MAY change by mid-July, but we will keep you up to date; until the guidelines on social gatherings are changed, the clubhouse will remain closed. Again as things change and move on, we will follow instructions and will re-open as soon as it is permitted to do so safely.

Hopefully we will see you all again sooner rather than later, but until then please remain safe and well.

Kindest regards

Martyn Jackson
