Dear Members -
Welcome to an AGM update as we approach the end of September, the month usually full of anticipation of what the coming season may hold. We hope this message finds you and your families in good health.
Whilst we can no further predict what is in store for the start of adult competitive rugby this season, Holt RFC have some very important news. Please read on.
On Thursday 27th August, our first full Club committee meeting was held since Covid-19 temporarily closed us down in March. The date of the postponed AGM was set and, as previously announced, this will take place at 7.30pm this Thursday 24th September at Holt Rugby Club.
In our 60th year, who would have thought that we would find ourselves in such extraordinary circumstances, with a pandemic which makes holding our AGM only possible under strict Government & RFU restrictions. It will not be possible for us to gather this year in our usual numbers, and do understand that many of you will be apprehensive to join us anyway.
We've therefore had no choice but to limit our numbers to just 30.
AGM attendance is by registration only on a first come basis and therefore I must ask, should you wish to come along, that you email our Hon Secretary Jeanette Edwards directly, and she will confirm whether you have a place or not. We will be ensuring that the full guidelines and pandemic strategies will be strictly adhered to for the AGM to keep those in attendance safe. Face coverings must be worn. The bar will not be open.
"Planning For The Future" Vote
Behind the scenes the committee continue to work hard on your behalf to steer a path through these challenging times.
It was agreed at the pre-Covid full committee meeting held Thursday 27th February, that a sub-committee be formed to consider the future plan for Holt RFC. The chair of the sub-committee Chris Harrison has provided this statement:-
"A steering sub-committee had been asked by the main club committee to look at a model for the future running of Holt RFC following replied surveys from our current main committee members. We needed to objectively and proactively look at our current organisational and committee structure, then go back to the main committee with suggestions of how we felt the club should be run. In particular, we are set the objective of producing a 5 year plan which we believe will take Holt RFC forward."
In "Planning For The Future", the sub-committee recommended a new, simpler management structure, and this Proposal was approved by the Committee at our last full Committee Meeting held on Thursday 27th August. The Proposed Holt RFC "Executive Committee" structure is shown in the image for your consideration.
I encourage all of our current members to consider this question please:- "Are you happy to endorse the committee's decision?"
As a solution to our members not being able to come along to the Club to vote on this matter in person at the AGM, please vote by emailing your decision as simply YES or NO, to our Hon Secretary Jeanette Edwards again directly.
Please start voting. The deadline for response is Wednesday 23rd September at midday/noon. Only replies will be counted, and an announcement will be made at the AGM and minuted thereafter as to whether or not the Proposal has been passed by you, our members.
Additionally there is also the chance for any member to put themselves forward to help shape the future of Holt Rugby Club. If you are interested in putting your name forward as a volunteer, then please contact our Vice Chairman & Volunteer Coordinator Rob Hughes. There is plenty to help out with and we are always on the lookout for people with energy and enthusiasm to help Holt RFC stay in shape.
Chairman, Holt RFC
