A big ‘thank you’ to all our loyal supporters!

As we are all aware no rugby at ‘grass roots’ levels has been played since mid-March 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This has left Holt RFC and all clubs in the Eastern Counties without League competition, without spectators and without important social activities that generate income for the development of the game of rugby.

Despite this, our wonderful sponsors, advertisers, members and wide range of supporters, have continued to support our Club financially even though they have been unable to enjoy our rugby hospitality. Our Mini’s and Youth sections have been operating since September with Covid-19 rules applied, so a big thank you to all Club staff, volunteers, children and parents who have made this possible. Senior players have also been training regularly and performing extremely well in a Ready for Rugby competition between Holt, North Walsham and Wymondham; we had success against both clubs.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend a big ‘thank you’ to all our loyal supporters, and to parents and players who have paid their membership to date; your financial support is invaluable.

Very sadly, due to the complicated Covid-19 regulations, we will be unable to arrange the annual Boxing Day Presidents’ XV v Holt. For the first time in some 55 years this event is cancelled.

Better news for 2021
We are delighted to say that from 23 January there will be a return to 15-a-side rugby, albeit with rule adaptations issued by the RFU, and Holt RFC plan to put out two teams initially. This means that our Club will be able to welcome back spectators to Bridge Road on match days. We are also planning to bring back our famous lunches when possible; naturally in a Covid secure manner.

Holt 1st XV will be playing in a local group comprising, Norwich Union, Fakenham, Thetford and North Walsham 2. Holt 2nd XV will be in a group consisting of Norwich 2, Wymondham 2, Watton, Dereham and Swaffham. Matches will be played home and away. These matches will all be played on a ‘friendly’ basis with no league positions being applied. This means that Holt 1st XV will remain in London 3 Eastern Counties (Level 8) into the 2021/2022 season.

Norfolk RFU also plan to arrange Cup competitions in May 2021 with finals at the end of May.

Looking forward to welcoming you ‘home’ in January 2021. Wishing you all a Happy Christmas.
