With the effects of the coronavirus disruption to all our lives continuing for the foreseeable future, a Holt RFC sub-Committee met on 11 August and agreed that certain activities could now be implemented, provided we strictly follow all the government and RFU guidelines that will make us Covid secure.
Good news is that senior squad training began four weeks ago in accordance with the RFU Return to Rugby Roadmap level B, and we can now move to level C; the Minis and Youth section is planned to return on Sunday 6 September which will be great news for the younger section of our Club. A huge amount of work now has to be undertaken in order for the Club to be Covid secure and the planning for this is being led by Martyn Jackson, Rob Hughes and Neville Drewry. Would any Club members willing to give some time to assist please contact one of these gentlemen – contact numbers are as follows; Martyn @ 07748 901228, Rob @ 07768 642230 and Nev @ 07737 688345.
There will be a full Committee meeting on Thursday 27 August at the clubhouse when the immediate and long-term future will be discussed, and details will be supplied to relevant members separately.
Holt RFC AGM postponed from 9 July will now take place at the clubhouse on Thursday 24 September at 1930. All Covid-19 protocols will be in place, including social distancing, therefore we anticipate a maximum of 50 places available; this should not be a problem as previously there have been 25-40 members in attendance. The AGM papers are already in your possession.
There will now be no main Club event on 6 September as all our efforts will be to ensure safety and enjoyment for the return of the Mini’s and Youth on that day.
Because it seems that a return to normality will not be possible for several months, we have regrettably decided that the 59th Annual Dinner for 5 November has to be cancelled as it would not be possible to cater for a suitable number of guests under current Covid restrictions. After 58 consecutive annual dinners, this is a sad reflection on what the whole country is going through at this time. However, subject to the situation allowing, it is now planned that we arrange a big celebration, incorporating the 59th annual dinner, for Holt RFC’s 60th anniversary since our founding in 1961 – at the Club in June 2021.
Stay safe and well.
Holt RFC President
