Holyport kicked off their league campaign with a solid 2-1 win, collecting their first three points of the season against AFC Aldermaston.
The game started with Port the stronger side, keeping possession and passing the ball well with Aldermaston's game plan to catch them out on the counter attack. Holyport took a deserved lead on 29 minutes through great work from Forisky closing down Aldermastons back line, winning the ball for Driffill to cross to Deverall, who finished from six yards out.
The second half saw Aldermaston reduced to 10 men, with a player sent to the sin bin for dissent. In this ten minute spell Port created some good chances and should have extended their lead, but failed to do so. As soon as Aldermaston returned to their full quota, they equalised with a long throw into the Port box, deflecting off Whitfield for an own goal.
Although Aldermaston had a good spell, Holyport got the winning goal to make the final scoreline 2-1 through Ensby breaking down the right hand side, crossing to Driffill who had a great first touch, finishing well from just inside the box.
