With no game today, we thought we would post the 2nd Team programme notes

With no game for the Reserves in recent weeks and nothing now until new year, it seems like a good time to have a look back over our season so far.

With just the two wins this season it would appear that it’s not going too well, but this doesn’t tell the full story. For instance, at this point last season we had lost every single game, some by big margins, and showed no sign of turning this around.

This time we have had two convincing wins, both of which with clean sheets, and several narrow defeats. 4-3 away at Tedburn and 6-5 at home to Uplowman to name just two. By comparison, things are improving every game, and we are trying to maintain a level where we have players that can step into the first team when required. The side is settling now after a disjointed pre season and a difficult start and we firmly believe we are worth a mid table finish at this point, so that is the target.

Of course, it wouldn’t be possible to have made any of this progress without all of our sponsors which help us remain active as a club.

We are grateful to all who help us keep going but particularly Harts of Honiton and W.E. Phillips who kindly sponsored our kit, which I’m sure all would agree is the best kit in the league, so a massive thank you again to them. Also thank you to Honiton Sports for the sponsorship and printing.

Thanks should also be extended to John, Pete and often Dave for the excellent pitches we play on and the smooth operation of match day, fingers crossed the weather eases up and we can step foot on home turf in the new year and pick up some points.

Of course we also need to thank Helen for the fantastic food !

We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy new year, here’s to 2020
