Valley will be looking to bounce back from starting the year with two disappointing defeats against promotion rivals when the host Glossop RUFC this Saturday (18 Jan) at Hope Sports Club (ko 1415hrs).

In this second round of "The Derbyshire Derby" Glossop will be eager to avenge the 12-19 home defeat they suffered earlier in the season when a makeshift Valley team made the short journey over the hill and produced one of their best performances of the season.

Glossop are also coming off a defeat, against Didsbury Toc H, and currently lie 8th in the league, but, as with all local derbies, the form book goes out of the window so Valley can expect a hard-fought game and will be looking to field a strong squad with only long-term injury victims Ben Somerton and Will Boot guaranteed absentees.

The game will be preceded by a reunion of former Valley players at The Woodroffe Arms (1230hrs) and followed by the Club's post-Christmas party at the same venue (1830hrs onwards) and it'd be great to see a big turnout for all three events.
