Ant Puttick led the Warriors to victory
They beat them in the final by four wickets at the end of a fun-filled Sunday at Horley Row.
Ravens elected to bat and were restricted to 43-1 from their five overs. Their captain Richard Waddington was 17 not out and Matt Reid was 15 not out.
Khyan Patel took the wicket of Artie Hoskins in the first over of the reply, which meant Patel finished the day as leading wicket-taker with six. However, from there, Aidan Spalding (15 not out) and skipper Ant Puttick (26 not out) batted Warriors to the win, with skipper Puttick smashing a four off the last ball of the fourth over to take the total to 45-1.
The DK Cup format is six-a-side, five overs each innings, with every team being a mix of players from all levels of the club, from 1st XI to juniors. Six teams took part, with each playing four matches in a group stage and the top two teams going through to the final.
With the square being a bit damp, this year’s tournament was a lower scoring affair than some have been in the past. Across the 13 matches, only five players reached the retirement mark of 25 – Dan Farmer, Luke Smith, Ben Stewart, Ryan Bunn and Spalding.
Warriors player Spalding was the day’s top-scorer, with a total of 97 runs in five innings, and was named player of the tournament. Reid was the next highest scorer with 59 runs from three innings – all not out – and Adam Stephenson scored 58 in four innings.
Close behind Patel in the wicket-taking stakes were Puttick and Oscar Davies, with five each.
Joseph Waller, another one of the victorious Warriors, was chosen as young player of the tournament for good batting, bowling and wicket-keeping.
A huge thanks goes to Dave Bunn, Charlie Robins and Richard Waddington for all the organisation and to Mark Field for scoring all the matches and Matt and Becky Stewart for running the barbecue.
For those who don't know, the DK Cup was set up in tribute to long-time club member, player and committeeman Dennis Kirby after his death.
