Houghton youth section continue to bring home the wins!

On Friday night the Ladies touch team hosted to Ryton in the league. A game held in tough conditions with lashing rain and wind that didn't know which way to blow! a hard fight ended with a 2-2 draw.

On Saturday the fun bus left at 10.30am to head with the 1st XV to Knottingley for the last of the National Cup games.
Houghton travelled with a light side and met a very skilled Yorkshire 3 side. The game finished 50-10

Tries from George Greenshields and Newton Turton
Man, of the Match went to Michael Carr

On Sunday nearly all mini and youth teams were in action.

The TAGS hosted to Seaham, rearranged after storm Dennis a few weeks ago. A good display from the 7s and 8s, they were using the space on the field. Showed good understanding of the Laws and great sportsmanship loaning players to the away side!

Under 9's were also hosting to Seaham. On a very cold winters morning it took the boys and girls a little while to wake up. Seaham showcased their excellent tackling skills and ran in a few more tries than the home side. Your determination and commitment never dropped though.
Always nice to have Seaham at Dairy Lane and we are looking forward to meeting you again.

The under 12s were in action over on Durham Road against Gateshead. With a lot of new players and the lack of games due to the weather over the last 8 weeks it wasn't the best day in the office. Back to training Wednesday and Sunday.

The junior games al kicked off at 11am. At home, undefeated U13s were in action against Bishop Auckland. The winning streak continues for the youngest of the youth section with a massive 45-5 win. Well done lads.

Away from home:
The 15s travelled to local club Sunderland. Carls team continue to be dominant on the field and came back with a 34-10 win. Excellent practise for their upcoming Plate final.

The Colts were also in League action up in Consett. A big 40-7 win for the older lads and another man of the match performance for Michael Carr. Who is he paying this weekend?

Into the afternoon for the girl’s games. Unfortunately, the 15s game was cancelled but the 18s were in action against Hartlepool Rovers. A good display from both teams ended in a close loss for the Dairy Lane lasses. 29-7.

Lastly 11, yes ELEVEN of our youth players were selected and played for Durham County this weekend.
Enjoy the honour and privilege.

Once again, another great weekend for Houghton. As long as we are playing rugby, we're happy.
