To everyone at Houghton RUFC
As I reach my final day of my 10 years as Director of Rugby at the club, I would like to say thank you to everyone that has made my time at Houghton as enjoyable as it has been.
There have been so many ups and a few downs. Highlights for me have been the two 1st XV County Plate Wins, the promotion to DN2 at Whitby and the game at Kingston Park. As well as seeing the Mini and Junior section grow and be successful, with many teams reaching finals.
We now have one of the biggest and best mini and junior sections, that includes three girls teams. Two Senior mens teams and the newly established womens contact teams. All of the above would not have been imaginable when I started my time at the club. This would not have been possible without the support and dedication of all of the coaches and volunteers within the club.
I would personally like to thank the Board for giving me the opportunity to start my Senior Coaching journey and for supporting me throughout my tenure. To the club coaches for putting up with me and my demands, your work does not go unnoticed. To the players for giving everything for the shirt. To the staff for helping rugby run as well as it does. To all the supporters and parents for making the club what it is.
I know I am leaving the club in the strongest position it has been in years. I now look forward to watching the club continue to develop and go forward from behind the barriers with a pint in my hand.
I wish everyone involved with club all the best for the future.
Thank you and see you soon
