Boars 53 - 10 Blaydon Bricks

Finally we beat the "Bricks". a great display of playing fast attacking rugby and causing the chaos to the bricks defence. Support play from the team was second to none and that could be seen from the second try, which I must say is the best TEAM TRY I have seen.

Although might not been the cup final bricks, Houghton started with some great attacking play but after that found themselves in their own half, scrum after scrum, locking out their first, we were pushed back on all the rest, however Arthur Mason and Oliver James Barker did a fantastic job against an experience front row of the bricks. With Carl Harvey and Gary Shepherd at the back of the scrum we were able to get the ball away quickly to our backs. Against the run of the play ROBBO scored the first try of the day, then something clicked with the boars and the team try was scored. Andrew Charlton started the move in the middle of park, surrounded by Bricks players, passing back inside to Alex Harland who drew the defender and passed to Jack Sneezham in their 22, who then passed to the player that started the move Andrew Charlton to score under the posts. The Bricks started to come back into the game, however cool calm Andrew Charlton kicked the ball out of the danger zone, unfortunately his boot went further then the rugby ball.

Bricks under pressure from the Boars found themselves further behind with a try from Gaz Spoors, determined to get the ring to Mordor, the resident Hobbit ran through 4 players to score his try. Boars started to play some champagne rugby, with Christopher Gowland, breaking through the Bricks line and even producing a Sunny Bill Williams pass to Alex Harland, (that's started the crowd chanting to get him in the first team - Graeme Bennett, watch out). However the Boars were after one more try before the break, somehow ROBBO, the second row finds himself on the wing and ran the whole way to score his second of the day

Half Time Boars 20 - 0 Bricks

A number of changes at half time, however straight away the Bricks came back and started added pressure to the Boars defensive line and scored their first of the day. Boars reacted with some great play from the forwards, including John Forester rolling back the years, Rob Middlemass battering through the defensive line, winning back the ball and getting to the backs where Lee Bainbridge scoring his first try of the season and finally Andrew Charlton scored his first conversion of the game. Charlton wasn't finished there and added a try and conversion for himself.

Bricks at this stage were dropping like flys and a number of our players went on their side to make a game, next thing the Bricks are in the Boars half, getting close to the try line. After a number of minutes trying, Bricks get the ball to their big lads and a few missed tackle equalled Bricks getting their second try.

The try that never was Carl Harvey receives the ball in our own 22 and run the full length of the pitch to score what would of been his best try and longest run for a try, TMO stepped in for the first time in a second team match ever and Carl was judged to have stepped out way before his hit their 22.

Scrum just outside the Bricks 22, Jack Sneezham gets the ball and puts Mark Whitaker in for his try, however on scoring his try, a bricks drive with him and Whit found a knee in his back, ( He is doing ok in hospital) To end the game Danny Jay-jay scored a try with Gaz Spoors adding a conversion and try and conversion of his own.

Everyone played outstanding, the fitness levels and game play is improving every week. Lets keep this going, next week is league match away to Consett.
