This past Saturday the Huntsville Rugby Club joined in the St. Patrick's Day festivities in Huntsville, Alabama. The weather couldn't have been better with temperatures in the mid 60s. The turnout for the parade was great, and the Wild Turkeys were able to WOW the crowd with spectacular line-outs and passing.
The grand marshal for the parade was Mayor Stokes from Greystones Ireland (which is about 20 miles south of Dublin on the east coast). HRC was giving the great honor of welcoming Mayor Stokes to town on the previous Tuesday night with some good food, good music, and good folks. During the parade Mayor Stokes (who played prop; prop is a forward and position played in the scrum) joined the Wild Turkeys in one of their line-outs.
All around the day was great to honor St. Patrick and was great to showcase the skills of the Wild Turkeys to the Huntsville community.
The Huntsville Rugby Club is next in action this Saturday (March 22, 2014) at home against Chattanooga at 1:00pm at Rick Cooper Memorial Park. This is the last home match for the Wild Turkeys, and they are looking to clinch a berth in the play-offs. Come out and support the HRC in their quest to defend their matrix title.
