Halifax Irish 2
Huddersfield YMCA 3
Halifax Irish can count them self unfortunate not to come away with three points after an impressive display.
Irish who had key players missing switched the side around with stand in skipper Damon Gledhill-Nichols switching to a central midfield role. Irish went behind after 10 minutes when Danny Naidole scored a free kick from 30 yards.
Irish then started to get a foothold in the game and a well worked free kick involving Jordon Wadsworth and Leon Hurles-Brook set up Eli Hey for a tap in.
The sides went in even at half time and the home side looked dangerous through Antony Brown and Eli Hey went in front when Damon Gledhill-Nichols clipped a ball into Eli Hey who finished first time from 30 yards over the on rushing keeper.
On 70 minutes Irish were hit with an injury to the impressive Nathan Wood and after a reshuffle at the back it was substitute Carlton Pownall who was harshly judged to have brought down Naidole when a free kick for Pownall looked more certain. Danny Stocker finished the penalty and Irish were reduced to ten men when Wadsworth was sent off for arguing with the referee.
In the dying minutes YMCA piled on the pressure and Kitson Gayle was found unmarked to win the game.
