Hythe & Dibden celebrated the double over Portsmouth & Southsea with an emphatic 135 run victory
Star of the show Mike Bowman who took 5 for 46 H&D's first SPL 5fer since Terry Rawlins got 6 for 38 vs Havant in 1987.
Earlier Hythe batted first and made 240-5 in 48 overs. Tom Gates top scored with 74 in 96 balls, sharing in a opening partnership of 109 with Matt Young who made 25 off 65 balls.
Zac Millar made 38 ~ adding 89 with Tom Richards 54 for the 3rd wicket. McKay 15 & Stow 21* got late runs.
Stow & Bowman soon had Portsmouth in trouble and with both bowlers bowling through at the end of 20 the homeside were struggling at 69-7. Stow finished 2-22 off 10 whilst Bowman's 10 went for 46 but five valuable wickets.
Portsmouth & Southsea were finally all out in the 26th over for just 105.
A good win by the Hythe lads.
So Mike's performance will go down in the record books amongst the old legends of Whitlock, Effeny, Rawlins & Price.
Just as Zac Millar will with the bat. A few weeks ago. His 145* vs Lymington was the first Hythe SPL Ton since 1984 when Dave Price hit 103 vs Alton.
His 145* was the 3rd highest SPL score by a Hythe player behind Mel Hussain who hit 205* vs Soton Uni in 1984 & 160 vs Alton in 1983
