Former Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and England star Colin Cooper joins our coaching staff.
We are delighted to announce that former Professional Footballer and Pro Licensed coach Colin Cooper has joined the i2i International Soccer Academy team.
With a distinguished playing career spanning two decades at the highest level, and over 10 years of coaching experience, Cooper brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the academy.
His outstanding career has seen him play for clubs such as Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Sunderland as well as representing his country England on the international stage.
During his time with the National Team in 1995; Cooper played against some of the greatest ever players including the ‘original’ Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Thierry Henry, Henrik Larsson and many more. His career also saw him play alongside some legendary players including the likes of Alan Shearer, David Beckham, Paul Gascoigne and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to name a few.
Following his playing career he went on to hold prominent coaching roles at several clubs including Middlesbrough, Hartlepool United and Bradford City. Cooper has also worked for the English FA as a National Specialist Coach and with the England U21’s. Cooper has experience of working in China as a Technical Director and Advisor to the Chinese FA and National Team.
“I’m honored and privileged to be joining i2i” said Cooper.
“Having seen the program from afar and everything that is offered across all campuses, it’s equivalent to any Category 1 Academy in the country.”
“Hopefully my experiences as an ex-player and a coach will give the student athletes everything that they are going to need.”
i2i’s Head of Coaching Bryan Hughes said: “Colin’s experience as a player and coach at the highest level will be invaluable to our student athletes as they develop their game both on and off the field. He is a Pro Licensed Coach which means he is qualified to coach at the very highest level anywhere in the world, including internationally, we are very lucky to have him at i2i.”
