Wanderers were keen to reverse the surprise loss to Canvey at home and travelled to the Essex coast with confidence following their defeat
of promotion chasers Chelmsford two weeks ago.
Canvey kicked off with a chill wind behind them and were the first to score with an early penalty but Ilford soon took the lead, attacking
Canvey's corner, Scrum-half Morgan Brown attacked the blind side and a pass to Winger Jay Fagin saw him around the defence to score.
It didn't take the home side long to fight back with a well-taken try to give them a 10-7 lead.
It was a scrappy game, not helped by erratic refereeing, this wasn't a treat for spectators but Ilford was keen to push for a bonus point win and the next score came from an Ilford overthrow at a line out. Fortunately for them, Canvey was slow to react and Ilford Fly Half Alfie Waddams was first to the ball to score. A yellow card for Ilford and a 10-14 lead was taken into Half time.
Ilford was back on the attack in the second half, kicking a penalty to the corner for a trademark catch and drive for Jason Taylor to score and at 19-10 they were firmly in the driving seat but Canvey had other ideas and scored again 19-15.
Ilford was in sight of victory but needed to contain a spirited Canvey side and with a second yellow card, their bonus point score came after intense pressure forced Canvey into giving away several penalties, one of which Taylor took a quick tap to crash over to seal the victory.
To their credit, Canvey fought back to search for a losing bonus point but the final whistle came too soon.

Skipper, Taylor said after" This is always a tough place to come for a result and even harder when we don't play well but we'll always
be happy to leave Canvey with a bonus point'

DoR Chris Smith Commented" That wasn't a pretty game but sometimes you just have to win ugly and with two yellows and poor discipline we made it hard for ourselves but we now have a good chance of beating our mid-table target"
