Illingworth bounced back from their home defeat against Booth the previous week with a commanding 12 point performance at Sowerby Bridge to extend their lead at the top of the Premier Division to four points.
Asked to bat first, the North Halifax men got off to a bright start before Jake Dixon removed Calum Cook with the score on 34.Hamza Mehmood and Matty Smith proceeded to push the score on at over six runs an over before Hamza fell for an aggressive 30 which contained five boundaries. Smith fell for 78 off just 47 balls with 13 boundaries with the score on 137-3 but the visitors continued to push on. Richard Farrell Smith added 33 off just 29 balls and Stephen Cook bludgeoned 78 off just 47 balls to set up a formidable target of 258, with Steve Shannon the best of the home bowlers with 3-59.
Bridge got off to a solid start putting on 35 for the opening wicket but with four of the first six wickets clean bowled the home side were soon in deep trouble at 68-6. The tail brought some respectability to the score with Tom Belfield 16, Jake Dixon 26 and Sam Mellor undefeated on 23 pushing the score up to 165 but the only question was whether the league leaders would gain maximum points by taking the final wicket, which they did with 21 balls to spare. Sowerby Bridge had little answer to Jamie Moorhouse who led the way with 4-31 off his allotted 14 overs and he was ably backed up by skipper Ben Robertshaw who finished with 3-37 off 11. Matthew Watson picked up two of the last three wickets with his spin for his 2-29.
