Illingworth's championship challenge was a victim of the ongoing bad weather.
Put into bat Warley could only muster 89 in just 30 overs after being 13-5 and 44-6 with only Greg Keywood coming in at No 6 keeping the home bowlers at bay batting through for 51 not out with none of his team mates getting into double figures. Luke Brooksby was the star of the home bowlers with 4-22 off his allotted 14 overs and he was ably backed up by Stephen Cook 3-22 and skipper Ben Robertshaw 2-7.
The current league rule only permits a maximum 20 overs to be deducted for overs lost to bad weather during the game and, despite extensive covering and mopping up, the home team couldn't quite get the ground fit for play by the cut off time of 5.10pm, even though there was another 40 overs potentially left in the game.
Both sides and a decent crowd were left frustrated by the premature end of play, particularly so as the ground dried up soon afterwards and Illingworth had to be satisfied with the three bonus bowling points.
