The 1st team were humbled by promotion chasing Heanor 7-0 at The Dovecote yesterday.

The game started fairly evenly with the first 20 minutes being a good close game. This changed on 25 minutes when a long ball was flicked on and the Heanor Striker volleyed first time for 30 years to fire the ball into the top corner. 5 minutes later this lead was doubled after a corner was sliced into his own goal by Michael Tuck. Just before half time Heanor got a 3rd with another 30 year strike. Ingles perhaps at half time could feel a little hard done by as two worldies and an OG didn't give a clear reflection on how the game was a close contest.

2nd half was not the case as Heanor ran riot with Ingles players dropping their heads as 4 more goals went in. Things started bad after only 2 minutes of the 2nd half a mistake at the back let in their striker to slot past Shay. 2 more quick goals followed from their substitute then a final lobed finish with 20 minutes remaining. Ingles huffed and puffed but in truth never really looked like troubling the goalkeeper.

Bad day at the office and the whole squad need to dust themselves down to get back on track Wednesday night at home to Shirebrook. In truth we dont compare ourselves to Heanor as the difference in budgets (we dont have one) and player attraction is stark.

The reserves game was abandoned due to a serious injury to a Friar Lane player. Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.
