East District Hockey association is running a FREE beginners online umpiring course on 7 February. This course if suitable for beginners starting out in umpiring, or those needed to brush up on some rules. No age limit.

Scottish Hockey is also running on-line Level 1 courses. Tuesdays 22 Feb, 29 Mar or 26 April. You can sign yourself up here if you are over 16. There is a £35 fee for this course.

If you would like to get "badged" (ie qualified to umpire adult league matches), you will need to follow up with a practical on-pitch session before practicing in real matches. When confident, you can then progress to being assessed for your qualification. If you commit to umpiring for club matches the club will pay for your course fees: Please let Paul Bowyer know if you want to start a level 1 umpiring qualification.
