1. A Brief History of Ipplepen CC

Ipplepen Cricket Club was formed in 1890 and originally played at Copse Field, Orley Road. The pitch there had a very sharp slope, but organised cricket continued to be played there until the early 1960's.

In 1963, the club folded after several years of declining support but just 10 years later, in 1973, the club was re-formed and were able to play at the Village Playing Field. The club used the Village Hall for teas and changing rooms, and support for the the club grew to such a point that in 1978 the first Ipplepen Under 17 team was launched.

Continued support and growth followed so that, in 1986, the club were once again on the move to their current home at The Webber Maddicott Cricket Field. The ground was officially opened by the famous West Indian fast bowler Charlie Griffiths who was on tour with a team from the Cayman Islands.

In the 25 years since the move to the current ground, the club have enjoyed steady progress both on and off the pitch. In late 2010 the club were awarded the ECB "ClubMark" award to recognise good practice in all areas of club life, and in 2011 the club achieved an unprecedented treble, with all 3 adult teams winning their division.
