Ipswich ladies followed on from their first win of the season in immense style this weekend, slotting in 6 goals against Norwich City 3's. The early morning start and a concerning weather forecast meant the players went into the match already dealing with a huge dilemma - Under Armour or not!!! *** DISCLAIMER other brand names are available***
Ipswich started confidently in the first half, early connections between the midfield and forwards led to Eloise Ward scoring her first goal 8 minutes in. This was shortly followed up by the one and only Sarah Daley showing us all how it's done by cracking in two goals in as many minutes. Norwich City started to step up their game and put a little more pressure on their opposition. City were kept at bay by the strong Ipswich defence and despite a couple of D entries against the run of play, they were denied the chance to shoot at goal. A final attack for Ipswich before half-time culmonated with the ball being played into Eloise at the edge of the D, who crashed it towards goal; a final touch from a City stick saw the ball collide with the backboard and put Ipswich 4-0 up.
After instruction from coach Peter Wright, the 2nd half saw Ipswich focus on transferring the ball through the midfield and dominating possession. While a number of chances were denied by the City keeper Eloise managed to skillfully slide yet another goal past her to complete her hat trick and as City tired, Evie Thorpe took the opportunity to score the final goal of the match making it 6-0 to Ipswich. Norwich City made one final push in the dying minutes of the match which led to some hasty backtracking, but the defensive teamwork of Jess Blake and Rosie Jackson saw the Norwich side swiflty dispossessed and meant that the Ipswich keeper finished the match without needing to make a save.
Player of the match went to Caitlyn Wright for some superb link up play through midfield and DOD to Allie Olding for not understanding how a countdown worked. The Ipswich side were delighted with their win and ready to face a demanding Harleston Magpie's team next week, the only other team to start the season off with 2 wins from 2!
