Ipswich 1s vs St Albans 1s
Result 2-1 Lost
Having lost their last three games Ipswich Men’s 1st XI hosted top of the league St Albans at Tuddenham Road. Having had team meetings and video sessions throughout the week the home side started with the intensity and desire which had been lacking for the past few weeks.
Ipswich were rewarded for their hard work in the early minutes with a number of goal shots only to be thwarted by the St Albans keeper. On the 20th minute of the game St Albans broke the dead lock with their centre forward picking up a loose pass from Ipswich player Sir Jack Devitt to neatly pass the ball under the Ipswich keeper Ben Galding. Having previously seen his side lose their heads having gone a goal down Captain Shyam Patel and coach Adnan Zakir railed their troops to continue to play with the intensity they had showed. With half time minutes away Ipswich drew level through Sir Jack firing the ball high into the St Albans net.
In the second half Ipswich started to dominate the game as they had ended the first half however they could not find the back of the net. In the 47th minute St Albans took the lead. The game continued at a great pace and with the home side looking to draw level. Having come so close to an equaliser Ipswich will look to take the positives from another disappointing result when they travel to City of Peterborough on Saturday.
