After a plethora of goal scoring chances last week, Ipswich continued in the same vein with an early disallowed goal. Bedford pressed high and won a number of penalty corners which Ipswich defended stoically, culminating in an excellent goal line save by Sophie Sexton.
In the second quarter, Ipswich cleared their lines with some well placed aerials, again from Sexton. At this point Ipswich completed a successful passage of passes with debutante Livvy Hughes finding the marauding Lizzy Wheelhouse who carved out a penalty corner as a result. Unfortunately, this chance was unconverted and Bedford attacked once more.
It remained 0-0 until the 3rd quarter when Bedford finally converted a corner despite some great running by Micha Knowles and player of the match Kate Wingar. This was quickly followed by a second penalty corner scored with a drag flick into the bottom right corner.
Ipswich defended manfully in the 4th quarter, even when reduced to 10 players after Sarah Bamfield made an unfortunately timed tackle in deep defence. Bedford concerted a 3rd penalty corner and the game finished 3-0.
Ipswich hope to turn around the goal drought next weekend with a home game against Bromley and Beckenham.
