Spending the majority of the game on top of the opposition, it was Horsham’s keeper who denied Ipswich on several occasions to keep the score level at 0-0.
Ipswich started strongly with Maddy Barnes and Micha Knowles running rings through the midfield drawing Horsham to ensure forwards Sophie Sexton, Lizzy Wheelhouse, Kate Wingar and Steph Small could take turns leading into space.
It was Ipswich who had the first chances of the game but Wingar was sadly denied at the last second by the Horsham keeper.
It was then the turn of Captain Lucy Dunnett and Wheelhouse who played the ball nicely around the D to get a shot on target, again forcing a save by the keeper.
Horsham turned the tables and began putting pressure on Ipswich defence. Player of the match Kat Blake made some exceptional tackles throughout the match, linking well with Jess Logan and Emma Rix. Ellie Scott, Kim Wood and Beth Scott also worked hard to make some last ditch tackles with Wood blocking a good PC strike by Horsham.
It looked like only a matter of time before Ipswich scored with Wingar again pulling off a great top D shot forcing the keeper into action.
Horsham had a run of PCs forcing a high stick save by Ipswich keeper Ali Barham to deny them. The Ipswich defence held strong to see the match out 0-0, thrilled to enter the Christmas break with a much deserved point.
The girls now go into the indoor season with fantastic momentum and hope to continue that into next year.
