Sudbury, sometimes a difficult place to go and play.
This year, and this season though, it was almost a walk in the park. Ipswich M3 with only 11 players, 9 of which were all above the age of 40 and 2 youngsters, were dominant from the start, pressing very well, applying pressure to Sudbury, superb passing, with many great runs. The first goal came within a few minutes, and this continued for the rest of the first half with a goal on average every 5 minutes.
We lost a little bit of shape for the last 5 mins of the first half where Sudbury had a bit more possession but it came to nothing.
7-0 at half time.
Second half was pretty much the same but with fewer goals scored. Some slick passing, and some great runs and moves by Jake Simpson and Finlay Miller often opened the defence and was a great debut performance by them both. Well done lads.
The very experienced midfield of Windy (Simon Miller), Chris Palmer, and Cooky (Andy Cook) was where most the play making occurred all of whom got on the score sheet at least once. Defensively very solid with Ant Harper, Simon Simpson, Alan Gray and Ed Downie ensuring Charlie had very little to do in goal, and also keeping a clean sheet.
Andrew Cutting deserves a mention for his tireless runs up front, but whatever he tried the goalkeeper or defense simply prevented him getting a goal (and trust me he had a lot of attempts! ;) )
Overall a great opening game of the season with a final score of 11-0 to Ipswich. The team shows a lot of promise we just need to keep it up for the other games which I'm sure will be a harder test than what Sudbury provided.w
