3-1 loss despite playing with only 10 men

Turning up with only 10 players is never a great idea; unfortunately Mike had not got the message about his call up following Windy stealing yet another player at the last minute. However Ipswich battled really hard, led by a superb shift put in by Tommy and Greg in midfield, and could have got something out of the game with a bit more luck.
The defence of Sampo, Langers, FF and Chris worked hard to protect Stretch which they did fairly comfortably until Thetford managed to get to the baseline on their right side to set up a near post deflection as the first half neared its end. With Steve Hart battling in midfield Ipswich had a couple of chances with a PC seeing Sampo drill wide, before a fantastic dribble from Greg ended with a tame shot past the post.
The second half started in the same way with the defence holding out aided by a good midfield shift from Louis and Tommy, and with Taylor chasing every lost cause up front. Thetford scored two quick goals from PCs, one when Steve had been asked to rest by the umpire for not retreating, until a PC routine saw Tommy divert a shot from Sampo into the backboard - just.
Ipswich never looked overrun at any point and could well have come away with something with a full team after a herculean effort. The return fixture can be looked forward to with some relish providing Windy doesn't steal half the team!
