Ipswich 3 suffer first loss of season on the road

The new league season is upon us after last season was cancelled due to COVID restrictions with players looking forward to getting back to regular hockey and of course hockey teas!!!

Ipswich 3 started well and were denied a goal within the first 30 seconds by an outstanding near post save by the Norwich Exiles which both teams could not believe how superb it was. Exiles cranked up the pressure and they scored their first goal (note to self play to the whistle!). Exiles continued to apply pressure to the brilliant backline of Ipswich but their press was very strong and led to their second goal. Ipswich continued to push the ball up the field and are efforts were rewarded by a goal from one of our new players Joe cook in the 25th minute.

Second half Ipswich continued to battle hard but again the press from Exiles was very strong and eventually their 3rd and 4th goal was scored. Ipswich did get a goal back with Felix Fitch scoring from PC beating the Exiles keeper which was easily the player of the match with an outstanding performance. Key highlights from Ipswich performance was the hard work of the two young wingers Nicholas Van Ek and Dylan Jarvis constantly running the lines and the tireless efforts of Felix Fitch on the back line.

Ipswich, with the first defeat on the board now have press the reset button and focus for next weekend's fixture with Bury st Edmunds 4 the visitors at Tuddenham road next weekend on our glorious new pitch and hopefully their first win.

For those interested in watching we have a revamped bar with benches outside so why not come down and support us and have a refreshment whilst watching some quality hockey.
