Ipswich RFC 3rd XV sportingly agreed to a friendly against the YM 2nd XV when Ipswich's opponents couldn't field a team.
They did find themselves short of one player though and as a return gesture, Barrie Alford agreed to play for them for the whole match.
From the beginning it was evident that YM were the more organised team with the training moves paying dividends on the pitch.
This resulted in a steady stream of seven tries for YM, with three conversions by Simon Arnold depite having to deal with a strong cross wind.
To their credit, Ipswich RFC kept their heads up and were able to score a try in each half.
Although the two teams are local rivals, the whole game was played in the right spirit and was a great advertisment for grass roots rugby.
