YM Hawks travelled to Maldon with a degree of uncertainty. They had managed to muster twelve players and had been promised the loan of another three but that's never a good position to start a game in.
However, right from the start a win looked very possible. YM scored the first try and were opening up Maldon's defence with some spiritied running from the backs. In the center of the park, YM were tackling far above their weight and stopping Maldon's big units from bursting through.
The lead swung between the two teams with there never being more that one score's difference between them.
In the end Maldon won by a single point but perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result. Nevertheless, it did illustrate that YM Hawks do have the skills and organisation to be able to win games.
Special thanks to Jesse Barker, James Shenfield, Tom Fox and Viliami Lotohea who turned out for YM and to the three Maldon loans who played brilliantly in the YM front row.
