IRLAM FC welcome York City FC to the Ambitek Stadium this coming Saturday for what is without doubt the the greatest fixture in our Clubs history. Having progressed through 3 qualifying rounds so far in the famous competition, the most senior Club due to enter the next round, and potentially be drawn against ourselves was York City FC. And so it proved to be, a home draw against the "minstermen" proving to be the tie of the round, the embodiment of what we call the magic of the FA Cup.
York City's history is rich and varied, a Wikipedia link has been added to this preview for those wishing to search the Club in more detail, but suffice to say that that York, up to season 2015-2016 were still a fully fledged Football League Club, playing, as they still do at their famous Bootham Crescent ground.
Details of the game.
The tie will take place at IRLAM FC's Ambitek Stadium ground this coming Saturday 21st September.
The fixture has been selected by the BBC as their live streamed cup tie, available on bbc iplayer and via the red button. As a result of this , the kick off has been changed to a 12.30 pm k.o, changed from the original 3pm schedule.
The game shall remain as a pay on the gate fixture on the day, so given the size of our ground and the limited entry points on the day, we would ask that supporters both home and away get to the ground as early as possible to avoid the disappointment of queuing to gain access when the game is close to kick off. Please note that the kick off cannot be delayed. Our pay boxes will be open from 10 am, giving a wide timeline for orderly entry into the ground. We would respectfully ask that home supporters joining us on the day, where possible, make the journey to the ground on foot. This will again be a huge factor in reducing congestion in and around the ground on the day.
IRLAM FC has its own off road parking space, but on the day access will be severely limited to approx 50 cars. They will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, after which the car park will be locked. The Club is based in a residential area, so we cannot advise alternative parking on the day. Our local police have asked that any cars parked in the vicinity of the ground on the day should ensure that there is no disruption to local residents. The football Club accepts no responsibility for parking issues around the ground on the day.
Please note there is no facility on or around the ground for parking for travelling coaches. Supporters can be brought to the ground by coach, but all coach companies are advised to find alternative parking.
Those supporters travelling to the game by train via Manchester or Liverpool, the ground is approx a 40 minute walk away. Alternatively the no 67 bus can be used to bring you to the ground on the day. These buses are every 30 mins throughout the day.
The Football Club is fully licensed and is ready to welcome all supporters with a good selection of hot food available throughout the afternoon.
The Clubhouse shall be open from 10 am
We look forward to an exciting afternoon of football and welcoming all supporters to the ground on the day, whoever they support. We will all play our part in the magic of the Cup !
