The sun shone on Saturday morning as six of our junior teams took to the field to begin their 2017/18 campaigns.
The Under 7’s did not take long to get back into rhythm with great performances from both the Hotdogs and the Ninjas. Alfie Bailey was the player of the match for the Hotdogs, a decision made from many candidates; whilst Riley Sloan took the award for the Ninjas. Coach Mike awarding Riley for his great positioning, determination and goal.
Close, competitive games were the order for both Under 10's sides. The Pythons enduring end-to-end action throughout the match, with things just as tight for the Cobras. Mukhtar Genty took the honours for the Pythons, whilst for the Cobras Louie McNicol received the man of the match award. It was a performance level like Henry Ward, who won the Parents Award.
Meanwhile in Warrington, the Under 11’s Cosmos had a tricky contest in their first league 9-a-side match. With some heads dropping, coach Kevin reminded his troops the ethos of our club, to try and enjoy their football and have fun. The message easily spread throughout the team with smiles the result of the day.
Over at St. Josephs, the Under 12’s Panthers had their first taste of competitive action. In a match that could have gone either way, Billinge Juniors FC Villa scored two late goals to take the points in a 4-2 victory. A promising start to competitive football for the Panthers, particularly for player of the match Dylan Stanway!
One more of our sides took to the field on Sunday, where the sun had now hidden away to allow wonderful rain to fall. The Under 15’s Tigers fought a tough battle against Golborne Sports Albion, with the opposition just managing to win the contest 2-1. Jack Curran was the standout player for a determined Tigers who narrowly missed out to a tough opposition.
As mentioned, our coaches help our players to improve their football skills and most important to allow them to have fun and enjoy their football. All our teams managed to do that this weekend, a big victory for all! Next week sees seven more of our teams begin their seasons, in what will be a busy weekend for the Vale. Well done everyone!
