History of the Club

Founded in 1907, the Club has had many great days. In 1963 King’s reached the finals of the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham, and famously won the Surrey Cup in 1983 and for three years were in the Senior National Knockout Cup.

The old clubhouse at Robin Hood Way burnt down the late 1980s and after a brief homeless period we eventually arrived at our current location in Motspur Park in 1992. In 1993 we decided to have a go at Mini rugby. Little did we know how successful it would be!

Although the Club was established for the old boys of King's College School in Wimbledon we have been 'open' for many years. We remain proud of our heritage and the valuable support that the school has given the club over many years but we are very much part of our local and wider communities and anyone who wants to enjoy their rugby is welcome to join.

The Seniors include three XVs with league games most Saturdays and a Vets team who compete in a local league and knockout cup. The club runs a successful Under 21 side who play during University holidays at Christmas and Easter. In the Spring / Summer we play 7s and as recently as 2017 our King Prawns won the Surrey 7s for the first time.

Last but by no means least there are vibrant Junior and Mini sections comprising children of all ages who train each Sunday and play in festivals all over the country. Participation and enjoyment are paramount and we are proud to offer good rugby to hundreds of children.

The Club remains determined to succeed on the field. It is vital that we do so with a sense of fun and ensure everyone enjoys their rugby, be they a player, a coach, a referee, a manager, a first aider, a parent, or any other of the many wonderful volunteers who work so hard to make the Club what it is. Our thanks, as ever, to all of them.
