A narrow lead at half-time (7-10) was ceded in the second forty, in fact the outcome was decided by the last kick of the match with an element of farce in the air – a conversion sailing high over the (short) posts with no one able to say if it really was on target, but it counted; 19-17.

The rescheduled fixture from the week before Christmas and a big ask given Hammers’ very decent home record. King’s were, just, ahead 10-12 at the interval but faded in the second forty eventually going down 31-17.
