Playing at a ground where we have won on our last two visits, against a team who we have already beaten this season, who in their last two games have conceded over 100 points, including 47 to the club at the bottom of the table in their last game, giving Wilmslow only their second win of the season, would normally be a cause for optimism
The bad news is Wirral still sit fifth in the table, and have only lost at home three times this season, with two of those being by the current top and second Hull and Blaydon (Harrogate and Billingham both lost at Wirral). Even their away form has not been so bad recently, before the blip at Wilmslow, they had not lost on the road since at Mint Bridge before Christmas.
For us it may be now or never. Lymm are 12 points clear, with 20 to play for. So if they beat Ilkley and we get nothing it will be 17 points with only 15 to play for – even if they lose, our next game is a daunting visit from Blaydon, fighting to hold onto the “play-off” place, after Billingham slipped up at Kirkby last weekend (so we have done something they haven’t this season). So we could really do with making it three from three at Wirral, but it will not be easy.
TEAM : Few changes from the Rossendale team with Chris Evans coming in for John Dervey in the pack, Dan Wilson for Mark Carruthers in the backs and Ben Dixon replaces Mike Bradshaw on the bench. Dini Noyo moves to full back, with Kris Bratton in the centre and Dan Wilson on the right wing
WEATHER : Looks OK – Cloudy but dry
SORRY : No early report this week – the full report should be there late Saturday morning.
