Three teams come oh so close.....!

With three of our teams finishing in second place in their divisions, it has been another strong season in the MJNL.

Juniors 1 will be ruing their loss to third place Amazons, when they had a poor game (by their standards), as if they had won this one then they would have won the league on goal average! The other two losses came against winners Crystals (very close: 31-27 and 20-22), which considering the age and experience gap between the two teams were actually very good results, and to finish second to this team in the Premier division is no mean feat.

Juniors 2, also in the Premier division, finished in 5th place and also had to rue a couple of losses to teams who finished below them. When playing to their full potential they played excellent netball and gave the winners, Crystals, a run for their money at the end of the season. It was just a lack of consistency and some slow starts that cost at times, which is something to work on.

Juniors 3 had an absolute stormer of a season, winning the majority of their games by very large margins. They also had some really close tussles with the winners of their division Storm - winning their first match 21-20, but then losing 16-17 and 22-23). Again, a second place finish is an excellent result considering the age difference in the teams.

Minis 1 had an up and down season, playing great netball one week and then the next week being almost unrecognisable! A second place finish in Division 3 was a fair result, although they did take a win from winners Minis Macklins at the start of the season.

Minis 2 finished in fifth place in Division 4, and although they didn't manage to win a match, their progress and improvement has been immense. There is lots of potential in these girls and we can't wait to see how they develop.

Big thanks to the coaches Chantal, Caroline, Liz & to Brooke, Shannon, Jamie & Tia for their assistance.

All in all, a great winter season - now onto the "summer" league!
